The City of Monroe's city hall shares a building with the municipal court and a neighboring rural fire station. The following is taken from their website:
Monroe Oregon is located in South-East Benton County and nestled in the foothills of the Coast Range. Strategically positioned in the mid-Willamette Valley, the City of Monroe is between Corvallis and Oregon State University to the north and Eugene with the University of Oregon to the south. This unique location offers very diverse opportunities including hiking and mountain biking, fishing on the Alsea River, Division I sports at both Oregon State University and the University of Oregon, or wine tasting at local wineries. Monroe’s beautiful natural surroundings offers an attractive site for business and tourist development.
Monroe's history as a town goes back to 1852 and the first emigrants who settled here after following the Oregon Trail and eventual Applegate Trail which passed through this area. Two interpretive displays located next to the South Benton Community Museum highlight the Applegate Trail and its significance during the early years of Oregon.
The city hall and municipal court building is a one-story structure made of brick and is located on Commercial Street, one block west of the main throughway, Hwy 99. This brick building obviously replaced a prior city hall and municipal court but which year this took place is unknown.
