The village of Barry in the county of Angus lies to the immediate west of the coastal town of Carnoustie, it almost being a western extension of the town. The cemetery lies north of the main street on a sloping site overlooking the village and Carnoustie.

The entrance lies up Mill Street on the north-eastern corner of the site. The north-western corner is at the highest point and there is a considerable slope from here to the south.

Mill Street leads to the National Trust owned Barry Mill, and a sign indicates the route from Main Street. The entrance lies on the left around a couple of hundred yards up the narrow street.
