Quite a large vehicle, and certainly RUGGED, in the courtyard of the Army's Infantry Museum at Singleton.

I had no idea what the imposing vehicle was, as I entered the Museum compound, so I asked while I was inside. I had read about the Bushmaster in a couple of novels (probably Mathew Reilly), but I didn't how how practical they are for the TOUGH Australian environment. [NO, I am NOT going to try and buy one, as I would rather get 800 km from 'tankful' for $80, than have to fork out for the fuel that this one uses!]

Some Stats:

* Weight:	12,500 kg
* Length:	7.2 m
* Width:	2.5 m
* Height:	2.6 m +
* Max Speed:	100 km/hr
* Op. Range:	800 km

There have been over 1,000 units made in Bendigo, Australia (about $500,000 each), and they have been made in several configurations, including mine sweeping and troop carrying, and as ambulances. It has a welded one-piece shell that is designed to protect troops from small arms fire and land mines. Windows offer ballistic protection. [ex-Army vehicles: Bushmaster]
