He is also known under the pseudonym Josef Ruda. After studying theology, he was chaplain in Židlochovice and a prefect at the Brno bishop seminary. After that he taught at Gymnázium Brno, a grammar school in Brno. He was the founder of the magazine Obzor (Horizon) and the chief executive of the Literature association of the heritage of Saint Cyril and Metodej.

Vladimír Štastný (17. brezna 1841 Rudíkov – 20. srpna 1910 Obrany u Brna) byl ceský knez a básník. Používal též pseudonym Josef Ruda.
Narodil se v dome cp. 34 (obecní škola) v obci Rudíkov na Trebícsku. Studoval teologii, pusobil jako kaplan v Židlochovicích, prefekt brnenského biskupského semináre, ucitel na 1. ceském gymnasiu v Brne. Byl zakladatelem casopisu Obzor a starostou literární jednoty Dedictví sv. Cyrila a Methodeje.
