Charles H. Markham was president of the Illinois Central from 1910-1918;1919-1930. As such, he has had the town of Markham Illinois named after him. The former Hotel Markham in Gulfport, Mississippi was also named for Mr. Markham.
This bronze bust on a brown granite plinth is located outside of the Paducah Railway Museum, Northwest corner, at 200 Washington Street. The bust and plinth is approximately 6 foot tall, with the bust being approximately 30 inches tall. The words CHARLES H. MARKHAM apprear on the plinth under the bust. There is a plaque towards the bottom of the plinth that reads:
Erected by employees
of the Kentucky Division of
Illinois Central Railroad
and Citizens of Paducah
as a token of esteem.
