Located on South Main in downtown Wagoner, the Newport Hotel and Restaurant building is a two-story red brick and sandstone building constructed in the Plains Commercial style. It originally was a hotel and housed a well known and popular restaurant. When built, it served railroad travelers on the nearby M-K-T railway, as well as vehicle travelers.

The ground floor has three storefronts which have wood-framed display windows and wood kickplates. The doors are wood-framed glass, flanked by cast iron columns. The original clerestories were covered in the 1950's, and the storefronts each have a cloth awning. The upper floor has four bays, with tall fixed-pane window with rusticated stone sills and arched brick lintels. The upper wall is decorated with dentilations and other fancy brick work, and the roofline is capped with stone coping.

In 1985, the second floor was remodeled and is currently housing a residential hotel for senior citizens. It was placed on the National Register in 1985. Interestingly, the three storefronts are address 132, 202 and 204.
