Willy Brandt (18 December 1913 – 8 October 1992) was Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) from 1969 to 1974. He was leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) from 1964 to 1987 and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1971.
After his retreat from politics in 1979 up to his death in 1992 Willy Brandt lived in Unkel. He built this house in the late 80s and entered on the 10th of November, 1989 and passed away in this property on the 8th of October, 1992.
His widow sold the property and the new owner attached a commemorative table at the entrance.
