The ca. 8m high obelisk made of grey sandstone was dedicated 1898 from the Wissel family to their Fathertown Kassel.

H. Wissel was a rich merchant and want to make a tribute to his city.

The pictures of him and his wife was attached as bronze side reliefs on on two sides of the obelsik.
