Perseverance
The "Perseverance" rail sculpture was installed on December 12, 2017, to mark the opening of the Gateway Roundabout and celebrate the railway heritage in St. Thomas.
This unique work of art, made of steel as strong as resolve of the citizens of St. Thomas, represents the importance of the railway and its impact on the formative years of the City. Through determination and hard work, the people of St. Thomas have always strived to make their city a better place.
The sculpture is made from 20 tonnes of atmospheric corrosion resistant steel which forms impermeable oxide.
