The Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank (BLKB) has set up 150 benches with historical information throughout the canton of Basel-Landschaft for its 150th anniversary. Each bank contains a different year and a sign with historical information about the place.

The text:

"Zunzgen - 1948

If you cross Zunzgen on the highway towards Basel, you will see a mysterious mound on the right, usually with a Swiss flag: the Heidenbüchel. Many myths and legends surround him. P. Suter and E. Strübin wrote in their book "The Basel Landscape Legends" of the Tomb of the Hun King Attila, of his hidden treasure, of a robber baron, of a chapel. A legend even says that in the mound is hidden a golden maiden who keeps a goat. Every Christmas morning, she rides on him on the Diegterbach to brush her hair with a golden comb. The archaeologists date the artificial hill, which carried a wooden residential castle of the motte-and-bailey type, to the 10th century. Since 1948, the Heidenbüchel is represented in the coat of arms of Zunzgen.

(150 benches have been donated by the Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank on the occasion of its 150th anniversary. All bear a year from the year of foundation 1864 until the year of the anniversary in 2014.)"

"Zunzgen - 1948

Fährt man auf der Autobahn Richtung Basel an Zunzgen vorbei, dann erspäht man rechts einen mysteriösen Erdhügel, in der Regel mit einer Schweizer Fahne: den Heidenbüchel. Um ihn ranken sich viele Sagen und Legenden. P. Suter und E. Strübin schreiben in ihrem Buch der Baselbieter Sagen vom Grab des Hunnenkönigs Attila, von seinem verborgenen Schatz, von einem Raubritterschlösslein, von einer Kapelle. Eine Sage meint sogar, dass sich im Büchel eine goldene Jungfrau aufhält, die sich einen Ziegenbock hält. Jeden Weihnachtsmorgen reitet sie auf ihm an den Diegterbach, um mit einem goldenen Kamm ihre Haare zu bürsten. Die Archäologen datieren den künstlichen Hügel, der eine hölzerne Wohnburg trug, ins 10. Jhd. Seit 1948 wird der Heidenbüchel im Wappen von Zunzgen dargestellt.
