"Si on osait, nous dirions que le spectacle est décoiffant. Car, l'église Saint-Jean sans clocher, c'est du jamais vu de mémoire de Tarbais. D'ailleurs, le panneau qui renseigne sur ce monument (récemment installé dans le cadre d'un parcours patrimonial), nous apprend que le clocher tour est du XVIIe siècle. Et que, l'église Saint-Jean-Baptiste (XVe siècle), de style néogothique, est le résultat de transformations qui se sont succédé au cours du temps.» Ce clocher de style roman, massif et carré, qui a fini de dominer la situation, est en train de vivre une nouvelle aventure.
Des spécialistes ont posé un diagnostic : «trop abîmé», explique Sébastien Legeay, charpentier de la société ADB Bâtitoit de Bours.
Il y a deux semaines, à l'aide d'une grue, il a fallu le déposer. Manœuvre particulièrement délicate à cause des cloches. Sans la couverture, la charpente pèse 2,5 tonnes. La chape, qui a été entièrement montée sur le Parvis, a nécessité trois jours d'assemblage. La particularité c'est que cette structure compte plusieurs arêtiers (pièces formant des angles saillants). «Un clocher d'église au sol, c'est rare», ne peut s'empêcher de répéter ce chef d'équipe qui, pourtant, a travaillé sur de nombreux gros chantiers : l'église Sainte-Anne, la mairie de Tarbes, le musée du jardin Massey ainsi que plusieurs châteaux….
Une charpente attaquée par le capricorne
Technicien au service d'architecture, Jean-Bernard Dinguidard évoque, à son tour, le pourrissement de la charpente attaquée par le capricorne. Il mentionne des infiltrations d'eau par la croix et le pourrissement des structures porteuses. Et d'annoncer : «Les travaux du clocher entrent dans le cadre du projet de la restauration complète de la toiture de l'église. La charpente du reste du bâtiment sera consolidée çà et là.» Ajoutons que la nef, deux chapelles et les murs de la sacristie feront aussi l'objet d'une rénovation. L'assemblage sera terminé sur le parvis avec pose des ardoises et de la croix. «Si la météo le permet, le clocher sera monté par une grue le lundi 14 avril.» Une arase en béton va être réalisée. Il pourra enfin reprendre de la hauteur.
Plusieurs événements s'y déroulent
Ces travaux, d'un montant de 500.000€, se font sur deux exercices, explique Gérard Trémège, le maire de Tarbes : dernier semestre 2013 et premier semestre 2014. «Nous avons un autre projet pour Saint-Jean : la rénovation de l'orgue, totalement déposé. Le coût serait de 350.000€, on verra cela en 2015-2016.» Entre messes, concerts et Tarba en canta, plusieurs événements s'y déroulent, souligne-t-il. Quant à Jean-Luc Puyo, le curé de cette paroisse du centre-ville, il déclare : «Je me réjouis que ces travaux se réalisent»."

A framework attacked by the capricorn
Technician in the architectural department, Jean-Bernard Dinguidard evokes, in turn, the rotting of the frame attacked by the capricorn. And to announce: "The work of the bell tower is part of the project of the complete restoration of the roof of the church. The frame of the rest of the building will be consolidated here and there. "If the weather permits, the tower will be mounted by a crane on Monday, April 14." A concrete screed will be realized. He will finally be able to regain height.
Several events take place there
