Arkell United Church - Arkell, Ontario - This Old Church on Waymarking.com

The small church building at the corner of Arkell Rd and Watson Rd in the hamlet of Arkell Ontario was built in 1877 to replace an earlier log building (itself built in 1838). Originally a Wesleyan Methodist Church, it became a Union Church in 1919 when members of a nearby Presbyterian church joined the dwindling membership of the Methodist Church at Arkell, to prevent the church from closing. That union of course predates the formal formation of the United Church in Canada in 1925. The building is listed in the Township of Puslinch Inventory of Plaqued Sites (visit link)

Today the church continues to operate as the Arkell united Church, with regular services and Sunday School held every Sunday at 10 am.

In music, the foundation of the church is folk and old country yet we are beginning to use more contemporary songs with a bit of an edge to them. Guitars and piano lead the singing.
