The headframe and winding wheel you see here used to stand above Number 2 shaft at Point of Ayr colliery. It was primarily a ventilation shaft and with a fan that circulated fresher air and flushed away any pockets of gas but could also act as an escape route. When the colliery closed in 1996, this stub headgear was taken to Greenfield Valley Heritage Park for safekeeping.
Ffynnongroyw and District Mining and Village Heritage Group have been fundraising with the local community for several years to restore the head gear and bring it back to the local area. In spring 2015 they realised their vision and the restored head gear was relocated beside the main road where both locals and visitors can see it, a permanent reminder of the long history of coal mining in the local area. Around the memorial are some of the original capstans from the wharf at Point of Ayr.
With thanks to all those who have contributed so generously to this mining memorial, including local companies and numerous individuals. There are too many to mention by name but without such strong community support this project would never have come to fruition. With thanks also to all those who have loaned their photographs or shared their memories.

Safai'r ffram pen-pwll a'r olwyn weindio a welwch yma ar ben Siafft Rhif 2 ym Mhwll Glo'r Parlwr Du. Siafft awyru oedd hon yn bennaf gyda gwyntyll oedd yn cylchredeg awyr iach ac yn gwaredu unrhyw bocedi o nwy, ond gallai fod yn ddihangfa hefyd. Pan gaeodd y pwll glo yn 1996, aed a'r ffram pen-pwll hon i Barc Treftadaeth Maes Glas i'w diogelu.
Bu Grwp Treftadaeth Mwyngloddio a Phentrefol Ffynnongroyw a'r Cylch wrthi'n codi arian gyda'r gymuned leol ers nifer o flynyddoedd er mwyn adfer y ffram pen-pwll a'i dychwelyd i'r ardal leol. Yng Ngwanwyn 2015 gwireddwyd y freuddwyd a lleolwyd y ffram pen-pwll adferedig wrth ochr y brifford lle gallai pobl leol ac ymwelwyr ei gweld. Mae'n gofeb barhaol i hanes glofaol hir yr ardal leol. O gwmpas y gofeb saif rhai o'r capstanau gwreiddiol o lanfa Parlwr Du.
Gyda diolch i bawb a gyfrannodd mor hael at y gofeb fwyngloddio hon, gan gynnwys cwmniau lleol a llawer o unigolion. Ni ellir enwi pawb am fod cynifer ohonyn nhw, and heb gymorth cadarn gymuned ni fyddai'r project hwn wedi dwyn ffrwyth. Diolch hefyd i bawb a roddodd fenthyg eu ffotograffau neu a ranodd eu hatgofion.
