Le Centre INRS–Institut Armand-Frappier contribue aux efforts québécois de recherche, de formation de 2e et 3e cycles et de transfert technologique dans le domaine de la santé humaine, animale et environnementale. Le Centre est situé dans la grande région de Montréal, plus précisément au cœur de la Cité de la Biotech dans le Parc scientifique et de haute technologie de Laval, à proximité de plusieurs entreprises pharmaceutiques et biotechnologiques. Il regroupe une quarantaine de professeurs.

Le Centre accueille près de 160 étudiants de maîtrise et de doctorat inscrits dans ses 5 programmes d’études en microbiologie appliquée, sciences expérimentales de la santé, biologie et virologie et immunologie, de même qu’une vingtaine de stagiaires postdoctoraux. Le Centre offre un environnement stimulant de formation par la recherche qui se traduit notamment par un encadrement personnalisé, la disponibilité de professeurs réputés et l’accès à des équipements de recherche à la fine pointe.

Les professeurs du Centre mettent à profit leurs multiples expertises pour dépister, prévenir et traiter diverses maladies. Pour cette raison, ils concentrent leurs activités de recherche dans trois grands domaines, soit les maladies infectieuses, l’immunité, le cancer et l’épidémiologie, les biotechnologies environnementales et, enfin, la toxicologie environnementale et la pharmacochimie. Leurs compétences leur ont permis d’acquérir une expertise reconnue internationalement, et valent au Centre d’être considéré comme un carrefour de la recherche en santé au Québec. De fait, le Centre abrite une des plus importantes équipes de recherche en immunologie au Québec. En plus de constituer un pôle unique de recherche en santé environnementale, il dispose d’une expertise exceptionnelle en matière de contrôle du dopage sportif et de caractérisation de peptides bioactifs.

The INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier Center contributes to Québec's research, graduate training and technology transfer efforts in the field of human, animal and environmental health. The Center is located in the greater Montreal area, specifically in the heart of the Biotech City in Laval's Science and High-Tech Park, near several pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. It brings together some forty teachers.

The Center hosts nearly 160 master's and doctoral students enrolled in its five programs in applied microbiology, experimental health sciences, biology and virology and immunology, as well as about twenty postdoctoral fellows. The Center offers a stimulating research training environment that includes personalized coaching, the availability of renowned faculty and access to state-of-the-art research equipment.

The Center's professors use their multiple expertise to detect, prevent and treat various diseases. For this reason, they focus their research activities in three broad areas: infectious diseases, immunity, cancer and epidemiology, environmental biotechnology, and environmental toxicology and pharmacochemistry. Their skills have enabled them to acquire internationally recognized expertise, and are worthy of the Center being considered as a crossroads of health research in Quebec. In fact, the Center is home to one of the largest immunology research teams in Quebec. In addition to being a unique center of research in environmental health, it has exceptional expertise in sports doping control and characterization of bioactive peptides.
