The plaque reads
“This building was once one of Kendal’s oldest inns, The Bishop Blaize Inn. Bishop Blaize was the patron saint of woolcombers, having been martyred with woolcombs in AD 316. At the last guild procession in 1759, a man on horseback, representing Bishop Blaize, was followed by a hundred woolcombers. The building ceased to be an inn and was restored and converted into housing in 2013.”
