Lock 7 is one of eight locks on the Welland Canal. This is that last major lock in the St. Catharines area, the final lock being near Port Colborne. This Lock along with the rest of the 4th Welland Canal was completed and opened on August 6, 1932.
Like many locks on the canal, Lock 7 has a viewing area and museum that can be found at N 43 07.319 W 79 11.708
Prior to 2014, Lock 7 was used to test the new hands free vacuum mooring system. That system has since been implemented across Locks 1 thru 6.
