Fettercairn is a small village situated in the south-western part of Aberdeenshire (formerly Kincardineshire). It is located on the northern edge of the fertile Howe of the Mearns with the eastern Grampian Mountains to the north.

The cemetery for the village is actually located a quarter of a mile to the west on the B966 road, the entrance being on the north (right) side of the road heading away from the village. The rectangular site is in an open rural location overlooked to the north by the rolling foothills. A roofed gateway, serving as the war memorial, is the entrance to the cemetery.
