U.S. Highway 77 Culvert - 1926 - Logan County, OK - Dated Architectural Structures Multifarious on Waymarking.com

U.S. Highway 77 runs north-south from Brownsville, TX currently to Sioux City, IA, stretching 268 miles through the State of Oklahoma. The highway was constructed in 1926. While searching for WPA-constructed culverts, we came across this culvert located 2 miles north of Guthrie, northwest of the Cimarron River.

Driving along the highway, it is noticeable by a yellow metal post placed for safety, and upon closer inspection, you can see the heavy concrete curbing, slightly below the grade of the highway. This culvert has a concrete tunnel approximately two feet high and five feet wide, running east-west under the highway. Stamped in the concrete at the center of the curbing on both sides of the highway is documentation for its construction under the auspices of the Oklahoma State Highway Commission:
