The 1914 Preslar-Hewitt Building represents a type of commercial building that became popular in the early 20th Century as this rural community grew into a small town through increased agricultural yields, development of industries and access to the railroad.
As a multiple tenant commercial building in the core of Taylor's central business district, the Preslar-Hewitt Building has contributed to the economic development of the city since its construction. This two-part commercial block incorporates elements of Classical Revival style, and is the most prominent building on its block. The building retains integrity of design, materials, workmanship, location, setting, association and feeling to a high degree.
