See the actual painting on display at the Monhegan Museum this summer in the exhibition "Island Treasure: Celebrating 50 Years of the Monhegan Museum".
Paul Strisik (1918 – 1998)
Strisik painted on Monhegan several times, beginning in 1950. He lived most of his adult life in Rockport, MA, where he had a studio and was president of the Rockport Art Association from 1968 to 1971. A good friend of Don Stone, it was Strisik who introduced Stone to Monhegan. Born in Brooklyn, Strisik studied at the Art Students League with Vincent DuMond on the GI bill after having been a photographer during WW II. He was author of the book, "The Art of Landscape Painting "published by Watson-Guptill, and of "Capturing Light in Oils".
