The Pilgrims sailed from England to find a new home in America on September 16, 1620 (new style). The first landed in what is now Provincetown, MA on November 21, 1620 (new style) before finding a more suitable site at present day Plymouth, MA.
On August 20, 1907, President Theodore Roosevelt was present for e laying of the cornerstone of the Pilgrim Monument. The 252' 7.5" tall granite tower was designed by Willard T. Sears and based upon the Torre del Mangia in Siena, Italy. It was completed on August 5, 1910 at a cost of $91,252.82. (
