Th dark and creepy 1849 stone guardhouse near the parade ground must have creeped out the WPA writers because they spared it a couple of sentences:
"[page 299] The stone GUARDHOUSE, S of the marker, built between 1849 in 1859, has a double-barred window and a dungeon. Just north of it was the parade ground."
