Built between 1951 and 1961 by Yves Laloy, a Boulogne architect who also signed the church of Portel, the church of St Vincent de Paul has just been listed as a historical monument.
With it, the state recognizes the renewal of sacred art in the second half of the twentieth century. The church presents a set of remarkable stained glass windows made by Henry Lhotellier from Boulogne. It was already labeled heritage of the twentieth since 2009.
It replaces the old church of the Republic Square damaged during the war. It offers a beautiful apparatus of concrete and stones, including a large trellis surmounted stained glass triangular patterns.
The aesthetics is quite bare. The large nave is now decommissioned. Only a side chapel still hosts an office on weekdays.
This church was rebuilt on the heights of Montplaisir hill. "It is also a recognition of this district built as part of the expansion of Boulogne on the left bank of Capécure.
