Berlin artists realized a both gate and arcade suggesting design on the Salzmarkt in 1998. It consists of two marble and one reinforced concrete pillar, surmounted by a heavy, double T-shaped architrave in a slight inclination, which comes into the horizonal for a short time in case of rain, but no one takes notice of that. The architectural sculpture appears both as a demarcation of the square to the street and at the same time access to the square. Close behind, a free standing cast-iron pillar remembers the iron foundry that used to be here.
