A Flora Sign in the Bomaderry Creek Regional Park about a local tree, the Rusty Fig.

This is yet another angled metal Flora Sign, but behind a metal pipe railing, on the Bomaderry Creek Trail, for the Rusty fig. It reads:
Rusty Fig

(Ficus rubiginosa)

This fig is named after the rust coloured hairs on the back of its leaves. Rusty figs usually take root in rock crevices where birds have dropped seeds. Along the creek are many examples of rusty figs clinging to rocks in a struggle to find soil and moisture


The actual fig is not a fruit but a capsule of hundreds of tiny flowers.
