The so-called "Ameisentunnel" (Ant Tunnel) passes under the S-Bahn station Othmarschen and connects the Waitzplatz with the Hammerichstraße.
In order to master the graffiti smearing here, a project was initiated by students of the Christianeum and the Gymnasium Othmarschen, art teachers, the artist Kai Teschner and the rapid-transit railway station coordination to beautify the tunnel with a uniform yet varied painting. In July 2017, the project was completed and now enjoys train drivers and passers-by.
On the mural are various people out of the Othmarschen district - such as a man with a briefcase or a mother with a child. In addition, there is - as if in a hidden object game - many other amusing motifs in the tunnel: a convict climbs out of a hole in the tunnel wall - and is already expected by a police officer. Children in particular will love the crazy train that drives along the tunnel ceiling. "It should be a bit funny and a lot to discover," says the designer about the idea behind her design.
