The monument to José Martí "Los Plátanos" was built in 1978 by the Cuban sculptor José Delarra in honor of José Martí.

The intention of the Cuban sculptor was to poetically represent a flower. The monument is locally known as "Los Plátanos" because of its similarity to a peeled banana.

On the structure of the monument you can see relief portraits of José Marti as well as excerpts from his poetry such as "Yo vengo de todas partes y hacia todas partes voy" (English: "I come from everywhere and everywhere I go").

The night lighting gives a very nice touch to this site.
