The country around the town was opened up for grazing in the 1830's & the village proclaimed in 1888. The hotel was built around 1912. The district has a population of approx. 540 with the hotel beside the road leading to Coolah. The hotel faces east & the benches on the front verandah would offer respite to customers on a hot afternoon.
