THE NEW SHOPPING.
MESSRS. MALCOLM REID & CO. SUITES OF FURNISHED ROOMS.
One of the conspicuous successes of Adelaide mercantile enterprise is to be credited to Messrs. Malcolm Reid & Co., whose spacious showrooms in Rundle street, next to Messrs. Foy & Gibson's— though it is but
a short while since the firm took posses sion of the premises— have already had to be rearranged to cope with the increasing voJnme of trade, while some of the activities carried on in them have had to be trans ferred to larxe storerooms in the rear. The firm's main establishment, which has a frontage of 60 ft. and a window facade of
double that length, boasts more than an aero of floor space for display purposes on its several floors; The light from large
openings in the ceilings is amnle for ordiiiary purposes, but can at any time be in creased to preat brilliancy by a system of powerful electric arc lamps, which is in stalled for the purpose.

— Extended Drapery Department.—
The demand on tiie drapery department has led the firm to devote the whole of the Eastern side of the ground floor to Manchester and linen goods, dresses, mantles, costumes, blouses, and flannelettes, ladies',
men's, and boys' clothing and underwear, cretonnes, carpets, tapestries, and linoleums. A special and efficient staff is employed in this section of the business. Another department that is receiving particular consideration is that of platedware, clocks, and household and general iron mongery, which has been allotted the western portion of the basement. Besides the furmtore, drapery, and ironmongery sections, there are departments for pianos, mantelpieces and grates, efockery and glassware,, electroplate and bmshware, saddlery and harness, buggies and drays. The warehouse has been visited by thousands of people during the progress of the Chamber of Manufactures' Exhibition, and every visitor has been heartily greeted and courteously conducted over the splendid establishment.

—A Paradise for the Ladies.—
One of the most atractive features of the estabh'shrnent to those setting up house keeping is the novel system of exhibiting suites of furniture in separate rooms. There are 21' rooms on the top floor (reached by an electric lift). Each is of the size of an ordinary cottage room and complete in itself, with beautifully tinted walls and ceil ing. The furnishings in them range in value from £12 to £300. In each is a priced list of every article forming its equipment, and the lot may be bought in one line, or any articles, from a pot plant upwards', selected at will; while provision is made for submit ting to customers varied window, bed, or floor dressings, op .different coverings for suites, if reqnired. Patrons have found great advantage in this method of display, in a smuch as when everything can be seci
in position, that harmonious combination essential to the tastefnl home can the more i readily be secured. Nothing that can lninister to comfort is omitted from the specimen rooms, which contain the newest designs, best materials and the most eomercially satisfactory goods. The linn gives an undertaking that it will exchange goods or refund purchase money if there is legitimate ground for such a request. Mcysrs. Malcolm Reid -fc Co. have befn in business 25 years, and have always acted on this principle, with tlie result that every patron is
anxious to come again, and to bring friends and relatives to swell the firm's wide clientele.

—Spacious Bulk Stores.—
An immense reserve stock is housed in the bulk stores at the rear, and in the electrically lighted basement, which contains every variety of woodwork from a clothes horse or a cradle to a farmers spring dray.
The finn delivers goods free of charge anywhere in the metropolitan area* or onboard ship at Port Adelaide, as well as at the railway station. It undertakes also to procure any article which its country customers may require, whether included in the catalogue or not. The warehouse is an exhibition in itself, and an emporium where no pains are spared to give satisfaction that will ensure constant patronage.
