1917: Nach über 600 Jahren, wurde Schloss Strahlfeld in verwahrlostem Zustand zum Kauf angeboten.

Zwei Dominikanerinnen, die für einen Erholungsurlaub aus Afrika nach Deutschland gekommen waren und deren Rückreise durch den Ausbruch des 1. Weltkrieges verhindert wurde, erwarben die Schlossruine.

Sie gründeten in Strahlfeld die erste deutsche Niederlassung der Gemeinschaft zur Heranbildung von Ordensnachwuchs für die Mission. Im Laufe der Jahre sind rund 500 junge Frauen von Strahlfeld aus in die Afrika-Mission entsandt worden.

Das Kloster ist heute vor allem Wohnheim und Heimat für betagte und pflegebedürftige Schwestern, auch für viele, die nach langjährigem Dienst in der Mission ihren Lebensabend in Deutschland verbringen.

Das Kloster "St. Dominikus" führt seit 2003 ein "Haus der Begegnung" als Bildungs- und Begegnungsstätte, welches vor allem bekannt wurde, durch die Erfolge von Sr. Jubilata in der Fussreflexzonen-Heilung.

1917: After more than 600 years, Schloss Strahlfeld was offered for sale in a neglected state.

Two Dominicans, who had come to Germany for a relaxing holiday from Africa and whose return journey was prevented by the outbreak of World War I, acquired the castle ruins.

They founded in Strahlfeld the first German branch of the community for the formation of new orders for the mission. Over the years, around 500 young women have been sent from Strahlfeld to the Africa Mission.

Today the monastery is mainly a dormitory and home for elderly and nursing sisters, also for many who spend their retirement years in Germany after many years of service in the mission.

Since 2003, St. Dominic's Monastery has been home to a "Meeting House" as an educational and meeting place, best known for the success of Sr. Jubilata in foot reflexology.
