Waneta Plaza is the largest enclosed shopping centre in the West Kootenays. With a goodly number of clothing stores, variety stores, a Dollar Store, a food court and a large food store, this is a fairly complete mall.
Back in 2005, when the mall became a BookCrossing Zone in 2005, with the release of The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, on Thursday, April 07, 2005, there was still a Zellers store in the mall. Run out of business by Wally World, there are no more Zellers stores and that section of the mall still stands empty, blocked off by muraled panels. We have photos of the mall from when Zellers was still there and more recent ones, when Zellers was long gone.
