So here we are at 9:00 am Christmas morning at Wal-Mart. We had planned to take pictures so we could Waymark it without a lot of cars in the way. Just as we were about finished, this gray car pulls in and starts taking pictures... ... What's this, then? Another Waymarker with the same idea as ours? I guess we'll never know."
The above was written in 2012 when we had just begun waymarking and were worried that there was another Waymarker in the area with whom we would have to compete. Turned out there wasn't.
This is the only Wal-Mart in the area, serving Rossland, Trail, Fruitvale, Warfield, and other outlying communities. It is of typical Wal-Mart design and if you walk into one Wal-Mart you have walked into them all. It's not a Super Centre, but it does have a "grocery shelf" and automotive service.
One thing we didn't realize at the time was that this Wal-Mart had been a BookCrossing Zone since 2005, when Timeline, by Michael Crichton, was released in front of the store, on the pay phone, on Thursday, June 16, 2005. A couple of months later another book, An Occasion of Sin, was released here.
