This monument was placed here as part of the We Shall not move movement a few years back by a local minister who, after a statue similar to this placed at what is now the local middle school was sued upon for its removal after being there for over 50 years and later the school board had to move it off the school complex. As a result of local beliefs, the organization partnered with churches and other non-profits to place replicas in front of other venues.
