The park was built in the 1930s, by the Civil Conservation Corps, and the old Amphitheater still stands, and some of the bridges from back then, but almost everything else in the huge park is modern and newer.

The playground equipment, as you can see in the photos, is new, safety conscious, and brightly colored. Each playground has it own rest rooms, and lots of green space to just let the kids run.
