Der Verein Pro Schwerin hat 13 000 Euro für die weitere Lichtinszenierung der Dachlandschaft des Burgseeflügels des Schlosses gesammelt. Damit sind 47000 Euro zusammengekomen, die nach Schätzungen dafür insgesamt gebraucht werden. 34000 Euro hat der Landtag bereits durch Spenden aus der Bevölkerung erhalten.
Das Hauptportal des Schweriner Schlosses ist schon lange durch gezielte Lichtinstallationen in Szene gesetzt. „Das Schloss als touristischer Höhepunkt des Landes verdient aber eine bessere und umfangreichere Beleuchtung“, sagt Pro-Schwerin-Vorstandsmitglied Ulrich Kempf. „Wir wollten nicht länger warten, bis die Kasse durch Kleinspenden mit der erforderlichen Summe gefüllt ist und haben uns deshalb intensiv darum gekümmert, dass die restlichen 13000 Euro zusammenkommen.“ Kempf hatte gezielt Firmen und Institutionen angesprochen und überzeugt, einen Betrag für die Beleuchtung des Schlosses zu leisten. Gespendet wurde von der Industrie- und Handelskammer, von den Schweriner Stadtwerken, von der Stiftung der Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Schwerin und von Herzogin Donata zu Mecklenburg von Solodkoff. Der Verein selbst steuerte 4000 Euro bei. „Es ist uns eine Herzensangelegenheit, unser Schloss ins rechte Licht zu setzen“, so Ulrich Kempf. „Für uns ist dieses Projekt auch mit Blick auf die Welterbebewerbung sehr wichtig.“
Unterstützt wird Pro Schwerin bei dieser Aktion durch den Schlossverein. Die Dachlandschaft des Burgseeflügels wird gegenwärtig von einer alten Beleuchtungsanlage angestrahlt, „versinkt“ nachts jedoch im Dunkeln. Mit neuester, wartungsfreier LED-Technik soll das geändert werden. Die Landtagsverwaltung hatte diesen Bauabschnitt des Gesamtvorhabens Schlossbeleuchtung vorgeschlagen, weil der Burgseeflügel von der Stadt her sichtbar ist. Das Projekt soll nun so schnell wie möglich umgesetzt werden."

The club itself contributed 4000 euros. "It is a matter of our heart to put our castle in the right light," says Ulrich Kempf. "For us, this project is also very important in view of the World Heritage application."
Pro Schwerin is supported in this action by the castle association. The roof landscape of the castle's lake wing is currently illuminated by an old lighting system, but "sinks" into the dark at night. This is to be changed with the latest, maintenance-free LED technology. The state parliament had proposed this stage of the overall project of castle lighting because the castle lake wing is visible from the city. The project is now to be implemented as quickly as possible."
