The Place
Don Timlin Terminal at Kingston Norman Rogers Airport hosts private flight crews and Air Canada flies between Kingston and Toronto 5-7 times per day. Currently, the flights are on 18-seat Beechcraft and 30+ seat Dash 8s. The terminal has enough room for about 40 in the seating area after security and a comfortable waiting room before you go through the metal detectors. Prior to the new terminal, the situation was much more primitive.
The Person
Don Timlin is the former Airport Manager who was instrumental in getting the terminal built. Don worked for the City of Kingston and worked effectively with the Provincial and Federal governments to get funding for the project. The terminal was opened in 1995 and, having just moved to Kingston that year, I was fortunate enough that my work led me to meeting Don a few times. A very humble and hard working man, his life was taken too early from all of us in 1997.
