This bench can be found at the Ramsey Hairpin on the outskirts of Ramsey.

This bench can be found on the East Quay in Ramsey overlooking the Mezeron berth.

The wooden bench has a slatted seat and backrest with arm rests.

The metal plaque on the back of the bench is inscribed as follows:
'Presented By The Rotary Club Of
Ramsey
On The 22nd Of May 2001
In Memory Of
John Lancelot Kneale
Of Claughbane
1914 - 2000'

The 'Ramsey Hairpin' is on the outskirts of Ramsey on the A18 (Snaefell Mountain Road).

The A18 connects the towns of Douglas and Ramsey the two largest towns on the Island. The road was developed during the mid-nineteenth century from a number of pre-existing roads, cart tracks and bridle paths.

The A18 is part of the road-racing circuit used for the Isle of Man TT and Manx Grand Prix races.

The 'Ramsey Hairpin' is one of the two hairpin bends on the TT course and is the first taken by the racers. The bend is at the top of May Hill the climb out of Ramsey from Parliament Square and marks the start of the steep climb up the Mountain (Snaefell). The highest point on the course is 422 metres (asl)(1,385 feet). Parliament is only just a few metres above sea level.

A video of the racers rounding the Ramsey Hairpin in 2017 Senior TT Race can be seen at the link below:
