"Believed to date from the late 1860s, this small well-crafted dwelling apparently functioned as an early farmhouse. The main portion includes an attic level and has a side gabled roof. A shed roofed portion extends from the rear. The builder used river rocks that were matched and stacked horizontally to create this unusual example of stone construction. Quoins and lintels of rough-dressed cut sandstone provide additional interest." (from (visit link) )

"The Stone House, located on South Estes and West Yale Avenue, was constructed sometime between 1859 and 1864 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The property, built from stones from Bear Creek and rough-dressed sandstone quarried from the nearby hogback, features 18 inch thick walls.

Renovated in 1976, the Stone House and is available for weddings, receptions, and other group events. All persons/groups scheduled to use it must maintain the dignity of this facility. Your cooperation is needed to keep it a beautiful place to enjoy." (from (visit link) )
