This Memorial Plaque can be found at the Ramsey Hairpin on the Snaefell Mountain Road (A18) on the outskirts of Ramsey.
The memorial tablet which is attached to a small shelter in the run-off at the Hairpin Bend has the following text.
'In Memory of
NORMAN EMERY
Who Marshalled Here
for Over 25 Years'
'The Isle of Man TT could not go ahead without the dedicated and hard-working team of marshals who volunteer to help make sure the racing can be run.'
The Marshals don't any formal training to sign on but previous experience can be useful. Inexperienced marshals will never be left alone and there is an ‘Introduction to Marshalling’ DVD which must be viewed prior to a Marshals first deployment.
Marshals need to be reasonably fit, and must avoid alcohol before and during undertaking their marshalling duties.

Ramsey Hairpin
Description: A slow hairpin bend, and the location of the commentary box (so watch what you say when they are on air!!) You can see the riders exit from Stella Maris from here and then disappear away up towards the Waterworks. Spectators can usually be found on both the inside and outside of the corner.
