The Leonay Reservoir is designated as "WS0242", by Sydney Water, that operates the water supply network of the area. There is an external metal ladder to the corrugated iron rooftop of the reservoir. The reservoir is behind a cyclone mesh fence with additional barbed wire on top.

On the north, and northeastern side of the reservoir, when I visited it at the end of 2017, there was a very tasteful graffiti of a relaxing frog, on a brilliantly blue waterfowl.

As a side-note, the Water Tower was built over the area that part of the Lapstone Zig Zag Railway was operated from 1867 to 1892, before the current alignment of the railway line.
