"Saffig is a municipality in the district of Mayen-Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany.

The village was first referenced in 1258 as "Saffge". Saffig was a fiefdom of Cologne until 1481, when it became a fiefdom of the family von der Leyen. After the annexation of sinistral territory of the Rhine during the French Revolutionary Wars (1794–1815), Saffig was a "Mairie" of France. Saffig has been part of the Pellenz Verbandsgemeinde since 1992."

[EN] "The description of the coat of arms reads:"In blue a shortened, curved, silver tip with a growing red volcanic peak with black smoke, at the front three tapering silver organ pipes, at the back a slightly inclined silver palm branch". The red volcanic cone with the black cloud of smoke at the top in the base of the shield refers to the former volcanoes of the volcanic Eifel, which in Saffig shaped the landscape and local industry through lava and pumice, the silver organ pipes and the silver palm branch are taken from an old seal of approval from 1784, which St. Maria De Mattias had used for the first time. Cäcilia as patroness of the Saffig parish church, in her right hand she carries an organ as a symbol of church music, in her left hand a palm branch as a sign of her martyrdom". https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saffig#Wappen
