"An der Stelle der jetzigen Pfarrkirche befand sich von 1860 an eine kleine, nicht beheizbare Badkapelle. Sie war auf den Namen „Maria Heimsuchung“ geweiht und stand mit nur 90 Sitzplätzen genau 100 Jahre lang den Kurgästen und den damals wenigen einheimischen Katholiken zur Verfügung.
Neubau der Kirche zu Beginn der 60er Jahre
Nachdem sich nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg durch die Heimatvertriebenen, insbesondere aus dem Sudetenland und aus Schlesien, die Zahl der Katholiken von ca. 50 auf etwa 2.400 erhöhte, war ein Neubau dringend notwendig.
Der Entwurf der neuen Kirche mit 320 Sitzplätzen stammte von Dipl. Ing. Architekt Sepp Dietrich aus Bamberg, der auch die Bauleitung innehatte. Nach seinen Entwürfen ist das Äußere der Kirche einer Arche nachempfunden."
