[EN] "The tea pot is one of the landmarks of Warnemünde and with its location at the eastern end of the beach promenade only a few metres away from the western breakwater and the old stream. The popular building houses restaurants, souvenir shops and around 8000 collected exhibits by Reinhold Kasten - one of the last great adventurers and circumnavigators of the 20th century.
Between 1927/28 and 1945, the circular tea pavilion in Warnemünde existed in place of the modern tea depot, until it was burned out by arson on 2 May 1945. The people of Rostock also called him Teepott. On the foundation of the old pavilion there was only a small kiosk in the 50s.
In the mid-1960s, the Hanseatic city of Rostock approved the necessary funds for the new construction of the tea pot. And within only 7 months it was finally built in 1968 according to the designs of Ulrich Müther. Müther (? 2007) was a civil engineer from the island of Rügen. Between September 1985 and February 1986, the teapot closed for an extensive reconstruction and later again for 9 years, when the building was privately owned after the political turnaround. Only after extensive renovation work was it possible for visitors to re-enter the teapot on July 19,2002.
Due to its arched roof construction in hyparschalene construction, the building is a listed building."
