Nurungji Chicken is located in a strip shopping center at the corner of Emerald Drive and Royal Lane in the Koreatown area of northwest Dallas, one block east of the I-35E Stemmons Freeway. The actual physical address for Nurungji Chicken is 11407 Emerald Drive.
Nurungji Chicken is a whole wood-fired roast chicken served crispy and hot on a large disk of rice which has been spread on a hot cast-iron griddle. The rice sizzles as it dries and caramelizes, forming a crispy crust under the chicken. We recommend adding corn and cheese to the rice-- delicious!

"We were looking for awesome spicy Korean fried chicken, something unfried and not overly spicy for the spice-averse member of the family, and a new place to try -- we found all 3 in Nurungji Chicken!
We had never heard of this style of Korean chicken, roasted in a wood-fired grill then served on a rocket-hot cast-iron platter spread with sticky rice, which sizzles as the the rice develops a crispy crust.
The chicken arrived nestled in the center of the sizzling, steaming platter and it took all our discipline to not tear into it at the moment it arrived. We had been advised to eat the salad first so the rice could crisp on the bottom, and we are so glad we waited!
You can add roasted corn and mozzarella cheese to the rice base if you like (and we did, thank you!) for a true Korean favorite. Now we get the Korean love for corn and cheese -- Crispy caramelized rice with corn and melted cheese was a perfect accompaniment to the chicken. Wow, what a combo.
You can order 1/2 chicken or a whole chicken, which comes with a side dishes of diced daikon and a fresh salad tossed in a delightfully tangy light vinaigrette.
But the real star of the show is the woodfired Nurungji chicken. Ohhh, it was PERFECT!! Seasoned lightly, with delightfully crisp skin from the oven that sealed in all the delicious moisture in the tender, fresh (not frozen) bird -- roast chicken in its purest and most delicious form.
Our order of spicy Korean chicken wings came out crispy and tossed in a delightful sweet and spicy sauce over moist and flavorful wings. Sorry Grandma - your fried chicken is bumped off its pedestal.
Lemon chicken wings are similarly crispy and moist, tossed in a sweet and tangy bright lemon sauce that our spice-averse friend absolutely loved! Unlike most places, you can leave out the pepper (lemon pepper wings are standard) so this really worked for our companion.
We loved our meal here, and will definitely be back!!
