[DE] "Im Osten von Mayen steht die St.-Veit-Kapelle.
Vermutlich stand an dieser Stelle im 9. Jh. bereits eine Kleinkirche. Letzte Zeugen eines mittelalterlichen Baues, der 1718 durch die Chorkapelle ersetzt wurde, sind die zwei Glocken von 1711 und 1713 und die beiden Joche.
1953 wurde unmittelbar neben der Kapelle mit dem Bau einer Pfarrkirche begonnen. Da die alten Bauteile der Kirche in ihrer Ursprünglichkeit belassen wurden, entstand ein Raum zwischen Kapelle und Kirche der heute einen Ort der Besinnung darstellt.
Dort kann auch ein zweistöckiger, barocker Altar bewundert werden, der früher in der St. Clemens-Kirche stand.
Die St.-Veit-Kapelle und Kirche sind umgeben von einem Park, in dem noch einige klassizistische Grabmale des ehemaligen Friedhofs zu finden sind."
