[DE] "Erbaut um 1280 durch den Trierer Erzbischof Heinrich von Finstingen.
Die Genovevaburg ist eines der Wahrzeichen der Stadt Mayen und steht weithin sichtbar auf einer Felskuppe oberhalb des Marktplatzes.
Die spätgotische Burg wurde im Laufe ihrer wechselvollen Geschichte mehrfach belagert, zerstört und wieder aufgebaut.
Die jetzige Anlage besteht aus der Oberburg mit dem 34 m hohen Goloturm und der etwas tiefer gelegenen Vorburg. Zur Stadt hin ist die Burg durch ein großes Burgtor, zur anderen Seiten durch den Bergfried und eine Zwingeranlage geschützt.
Der ehemaligen Burggraben ist heute eine Ringstraße, die von einer 20 m langen gotischen Steinbrücke überspannt wird.
Die Genovevaburg beherbergt das Eifelmuseum und das Deutsche Schieferbergwerk."

The Genovevaburg is one of Mayen's landmarks and is visible from afar on a rocky promontory above the market square.
The late Gothic castle was besieged, destroyed and rebuilt several times in the course of its eventful history.
The present facility consists of the upper castle with the 34 m high Goloturm and the lower situated outer castle. Towards the town, the castle is protected by a large castle gate, on the other side by the keep and a kennel.
The former moat is now a ring road that is spanned by a 20 m long Gothic stone bridge.
The Genovevaburg is home to the Eifel Museum and the German Slate Mine."
