The Chairy Orchard is a wonderfully quirky folk art project of 2 women who jointly mow and maintain the vacant lot between their houses. Because this lot is in the floodplain, it will never be developed, and so there's plenty of room here for their playful pun-filled Chairy Orchard.
From J.D. Ryan at KDFW-TV Channel 4, some background and details of the Chairy Orchard: (

"When you think of sweet cherries, you normally think of Washington or California. However, there is an orchard that is open all year in Denton. It is the creation of two neighbors of 40 years who had an empty lot between their homes.
“There is a tree in the back there, that I decided to screw chairs to and call it a Chairy tree” said Judy Smith of The Chairy Orchard.
Last year they decided to expand it into a full orchard and went looking for chairs to fill it. Where do you find a bunch of chairs to fill an orchard?
“Curbs, garage sales, thrift shops, people donate, flea markets” Judy explained.
The Chairy Orchard has grown to over 250 chairs of all sizes, colors and styles. They even have a giant chair for an oversized Teddy Bear.
People come from far and wide to walk through the chairs, take pictures and sometimes rearrange them for group chat.
“People say when is this gonna be done? I said never…this is going to go on forever” Judy added.
