The sculpture of Dr. Norman Bethune is found outside the National Historic Site and Museum that chronicles his life as a battlefront surgeon, activist, humanitarian, inventor, teacher and artist.
The house is where Dr. Bethune was born in 1890. He lived less than 50 years, but he especially warmly remembered in China and thousands of Chinese visitors come to this place every year. In China he served as a surgeon and teacher and his story continues to be taught as an example to millions of Chinese students.
