[DE] "Die St. Petrikirche in Lübeck ist schon weit über 800 Jahre alt und wurde schon 1170 zusammen mit der St. Marienkirche urkundlich erwähnt. Vor dem Bau einer spätromanischen dreischiffigen Hallenkirche befand sich bereits eine Kirche auf dem Petrihügel, deren Aussehen leider unbekannt ist. 50 Jahre nach Entstehung dieser ersten Kirche begann man mit dem Bau der kompakten zweiten Kirche, von der noch Spuren im Bereich der Turmwand zu finden sind. Durch zahlreiche Vergrößerungen und Umwandelungen, die Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts im Zuge des Aufstiegs Lübecks begonnen, ist die Petrikirche entstanden wie wir sie heute kennen. Faszinierend ist, dass durch die zahlreichen Umbaumaßnahmen ein Raum entstanden ist, der wie aus einem Guss wirkt.
Durch den Bombenangriff am Palmsonntag 1942 verlor die Kirche nicht nur ihr Dach und ihren Turmhelm, es brannte auch das gesamte Kircheninnere aus. In St. Marien begannen die Sicherungs- und Wiederaufbaumaßnahmen schon während des Krieges, wogegen St. Petri erst in den sechziger Jahren erneuert wurde. Der nach denkmalpflegerischen Gesichtspunkten wiederhergestellte Innenraum konnte erst 1987 wieder der neuen Zweckbestimmung, St. Petri als Kirche für die ganze Stadt, übergeben werden."
