The arcade of live oak trees leading to the San Jacinto Monument
was planted to commemorate the
55th anniversary of the establishment of
Houston Endowment Inc.
The trees were planted on April 5th, 1993,
the 119th birthday of Jesse Holman Jones,
founder of the Houston Endowment Inc.
and leader of the movement to build
the San Jacinto monument.
The project was funded by Houston Endowment Inc. and
implemented by the Park People, Inc.
